How Hablaki works
Hablaki turns your voice into text in any app on your Mac or Windows PC. You press a key, you speak, and the text appears where your cursor is. Everything is processed on your computer.
Dictate in three steps
- Press your key. On Mac, press F5 once to start, or hold fn while you speak. On Windows, press F9 or hold the right Ctrl key. You can choose a different key in Settings.
- Speak naturally. A pill showing the shape of your voice appears at the bottom of the screen, so you know it's listening. No need to speak slowly or say the punctuation.
- The text appears. When you release the key, or press it again, Hablaki transcribes on your computer and types the text where your cursor was, with capitalization and punctuation.
What happens under the hood
Hablaki uses a speech recognition model that runs inside your computer. Your voice never travels to a server: it's turned into text on your device and the audio is discarded when it's done. That's why it works offline and why it's private.
On a Mac with Apple silicon, a few seconds of speech are transcribed in under a second. On Intel-based Macs and on Windows, it uses a lighter model designed to run smoothly on modest computers.
What you can do
- Dictate in any app: email, messaging, documents, spreadsheets, your browser, or code.
- Six languages: Spanish, English, French, Portuguese, German, and Italian.
- Your vocabulary: add names, brands, and terms so they're spelled correctly.
- Transcribe files: turn recordings, meetings, videos, and voice notes into text, with no length limit.
- Optional history: off by default and saved only on your computer.
What you need
A Mac with Apple silicon (macOS 15 or later) or an Intel processor (macOS 13 or later), or a PC running Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit). During first-time setup, Hablaki downloads its voice component just once.
