How to transcribe a WhatsApp audio
- Save the audio to your computer. In WhatsApp Web or the desktop app, open the voice message menu and choose “Download”. From your phone, you can share the audio with yourself, for example by email, and open it on your computer.
- Upload it here. Drag it into the box. WhatsApp audio files are usually .opus or .ogg, and they're read without converting them.
- Press “Transcribe”. In a few seconds you'll have the text, ready to copy or save.
Your conversations are private
Voice notes often contain personal things. That's why we store neither the audio nor the text, and you don't need to create an account or give your number. If you want the voice note to never leave your computer, choose “On your device”.
Works for Telegram and other apps too
Voice messages from Telegram, Signal or Instagram, and voice memos from iPhone or Android, are transcribed the same way. If it's an audio file, it works here.
Which mode to use
For short, clear voice notes, Hummingbird is the fastest and has the smallest download. If the audio has street noise or background music, use Lynx.
What if, instead of recording and transcribing, you dictated directly?
With Hablaki, you press a key, speak, and the text appears wherever your cursor is: in your email, in Word, in WhatsApp Web or in any app. Your voice never leaves your device. Try it free for 14 days, no card required.
